Off the Felt

Thirteen years at the table

About

A web studio and a poker professional, one shop. Who does what, and what gets printed.

Who makes it

Cozy Mind Media build and run the shop: the site, the ordering, the printing and the post.

The poker side is a professional with thirteen years in the game: cardroom dealing, tournament operations, freelance events and playing, with tournament wins behind him. He also runs Leeside Dealer Academy, Ireland's first dedicated poker dealing academy. Every line in this shop comes off that experience, and any one of them gets held back if it would not survive being read out at a live table.

Between them, one side decides what is worth printing and the other makes sure it arrives.

What gets printed and what does not

The humour here is about the losing, because that is what the game is mostly made of and it is the only part everybody has in common. The rake, the runner-runner, the call you knew was coming, and the drive home.

What does not get printed: royal flushes, dice, anything with a showgirl on it, and any line that reads like it was written by somebody who has watched poker rather than played it. A shirt that gets a look across a table is worth more than a shirt that explains itself.

How it is made

Every item is printed after the order comes in, so nothing sits in a box waiting for a buyer, and no size gets written off at the end of a season.

Our print partner has presses in more than thirty countries and sends your order to the one nearest you. For a US customer that means a shirt printed in the States and posted domestically, which is the whole reason a package lands in about a week rather than a fortnight.

[TBC] The blank, the fabric weight and the print method are named on this page once the first real order has been through our own hands.

Why the name

Off the felt is where you spend most of your life. It is the drive home, the rail, the week you said you were taking off. It is also the only time a shirt is any use to you.

On the Felt is the collection that stays on the table: the deck, the mug, the tote. Same brand, other side of the rail.

Where it goes next

The shop opens with the slots you can see, and what comes after that depends on what people actually wear rather than on a content calendar.

[TBC] Artwork and the launch date are not set yet, so every product name and image on this site is a slot. The prices, the sizes and the shipping are decided and are what you will pay.
